Introduction

I have seen a lot of comments online about missing something or the other features/buttons when accessing various capabilities of SAP IS.

In this blog I want to lay out a very basic guide to set up your Integration Suite Trial after which you should be able to access all the capabilities without any issues. After this guide, you will not face any issues accessing any capability.

Sign up and create your BTP Trial account

Just head over to BTP Trial page and hit the “Sign In” button. Fill in the details and you be logged into your Global Account and a trial Subaccount.

Create integration Suite instance

Go to your trial subaccount and hit “Create”

Type in Integration and select Integration Suite service and select plan “trial”. Hit “Create”. Wait for a bit before instance is created.

Add roles to your trial user

Go to users and add missing roles to the user.

At this point you will need role Integration_Provisioner to provision your integration suite capabilities.

Log out of your trial account

At this point you need to log out of your trial account. Once you log out, close your browser. Then reopen your browser and login to your trial account.

Launch integration suite instance

After logging into your trial account open your “trial” subaccount and go to “Instances and subscriptions”, click the newly created instance of SAP Integration Suite.

Enable the capabilities

On Integration Suite home page click on “Manage Capabilities” button and select and activate the required capabilities.

Wait for all capabilities to get activated/green.

At this point you will see capabilities now reflecting in your integration suite home page, however those may be “unclickable”, as seen below. The reason being your user is missing roles to access these capabilities.

Lets remedy this.

Use Booster

Booster is used to provision roles, auths and runtimes needed to utilize the capabilities to their fullest extent.

Let us head over to BTP Cockpit for Global Account and select Boosters from Navigation Pane.

Hit the Start and select the subaccount for which you want to run the booster.

Next, Select the capabilities for which you want the user access provisioned.

You can assign roles manually if you need to segregate user access. For this you need to head over to “Subaccount-> Security -> Users -> User -> Assign Role Collection”

Hit “Next” to review and Click “Finish”.

You should see “Booster executed Successfully” pop up.

You should be able to see your runtimes configured now as well which you will need to execute your artifacts at runtime.

Again, you can create these runtimes manually as well. Understand that, for your users to be able to execute/call your integration artefacts you will need to select plan “integration-flow” when configuring it manually. When you want to use APIs of Integration Suite, you will need to create a new runtime instance with plan “api” to be able to do that. Through booster both runtimes’ creation is automated.

Add any missing roles

As booster capabilities may or may not be updated regularly to add any new roles. It idea to return to BTP Cockpit of Subaccount and check for any missing roles and add them.

Refresh your Integration Suite Page

After completing till Step 8, refresh your IS home page. Now you should be able to see clickable button on top of capability tiles.

However, it seems we still have “Manage APIs” Capability not in usable state. Lets resolve this.

Provisioning API Management

On your integration suite homepage go to “Setting->APIs” as seen below:

As seen above, your account is being provisioned pop up will appear. Once it finishes, you might land on below page.

Lets close this page. Relaunch “Integration Suite”, as we did earlier.

Once Integration Suite loads, you will see two new button as seen below and a few more navigation items on the navigation pane.

These buttons are related to API Management Capabilities.

Want to learn about API Management? Head over here.

Additionally depending on the roles added, you will have access to API Business Hub Enterprise, which you will require during API development lifecycle to publish and manage them.

At this point, you are well prepared to experience the full glory of the SAP Integration Suite Trial.

You cannot re-provision IS service if for whatever reason you delete your IS Instance. To re-provision a trial IS, you will need to delete your BTP Trial account and create a new trial account from scratch again.

Conclusion

You will want to experience Integration Suite and its various capability. This blog covers start to finish, all the steps you need to perform to utilize those capabilities. A few steps maybe here and there when you provision an Enterprise account. Thats for other time.

If you have any questions, leave them in comments.
